Opened two CdPs in the past week:
2014 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
Removed from my cellar where it has rested undisturbed for the last 7-8 years and opened immediately, the first pour (about four ounce, Bob's glass, we generally get six pours from a bottle) was a pretty dark ruby red (we were outside in daylight) and tasted charmingly of bright blackberry and raspberry fruits with ample spice while the second, my glass, was browner and murkier with a decided cola note. The third, my re-pour, was more opaque than glass #2 with a lot of powdery sediment. Possibly the literal bottom of the barrel and not neccessarily typical of other bottles recently reported on CT, but based on what we experienced this wine's at the end of its rope. Drink NOW (and stand up any bottles you intend to drink for a week prior to opening).
2005 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
Surprisingly fruity for its age (albeit, ripe) and youthful; some secondary development but no tertiary yet. I have more bottles and will wait 2-3 years to open another. This is a long-termer.
