More grizzleflick from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. TrousseauGris is a white/pink mutation of TrousseauNoir. Which is mostly found in Eastern France, in the Alps. It was widely planted in Calif for some time where it was named Gray Riesling. Those Calif GR were often made like Calif White Riesling and showed a lot of similarity to those wines of the time, though a bit more rustic/coarse. As a varietal, it pretty much died out in the '70's-'80's. I would love to see Morgan make an old-timey Calif Gray Riesling.
This wine was made as a Rosato with some skin-contact. This wine is showing a lot of maturity like a PinotGris Rosato.
The origins of GrayRiesling have never been tracked down. It could very well originated in Calif, though there appears to be some grown in France as TrousseauGris. I've never seen one from France.
