No wine Monday with takeout Chinese at a board meeting before heading to city.
Lovely week for dinners on patio.
Lobsters were on sale at HMart, steamed a couple and served with rice noodles with trumpet mushrooms and shanghai tips in oyster sauce.
2012 Piuze Forets Chablis 1er
I wouldn't call this oxidized yet, but it's getting there Pear, lemon zest, some chalk, but a light overlay of caramel. Godo acids, nice chalky finish. I still enjoyed, but see no future based on this bottle. B
Flank steak (fish sauce marinade), sweet potato, and a big salad
2020 Baudry Mollieres Chinon
New cuvee to me. Rather fleshy, pretty raspberry and cherry fruit, pretty giving. Unsure where this falls in the hierarchy but it’s quite approachable and doesn’t seem to demand any again. Fun. B+/B
Bluefish dijonnaise, leftover rice noodles, Chinese broccoli with ginger and garlic
2010 Ch. Faugeres Bordeaux Blanc
I won’t call this premoxed (because who ages Bdx Blanc AC, especially from St Emilion?) but I will call it tired and oxidized. C
2021 Schafer-Frohlich Schiefergestein Riesling Trocken
Electric acidity, lime and green apple, smoke, and a long slatey finish. Snappy happy wine. Long, mineral, and complex for level. A-/B+.
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
