WTN: Harrington Nebbiolo PasoRobles '14....(short/boring)

Dipping down into my Harrington stash, I cracked last night:
1. Harrington Nebbiolo PelletiereVnyd/LunaMattaVnyd/PasoRobles (13.5%) HarringtonWines/SanFrancisco 2014: Med.light color w/ some bricking; very classic Nebb/pungent/tarry rather fragrant floral/lilacs/Nebb light toasty/Fr.oak rather complex very attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy slight metallic rather pungent/tarry/road tar/licorice lightly floral/lilacs/violets/Nebb bit toasty/oak rather acidic/lean/hard some complex flavor w/ ample chewey/bitey tannins; very long tough/tannic finish that follows flavor; not a whole lot of PR/jammy/ripe character; speaks strongly on the tarry side of Nebb & lacks the soaring aromatics of a good Piemonte Nebb; a pretty rough/rustic/hard Nebb that needs more age but not sure it will ever be very pleasurable; a pretty rugged rendition of Nebb that suggests Valtelline more than anything; a pretty rugged expression of Nebb that will probably never come around.

More nittlefrick from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The Ahner's LunaMatta vnyd had a lot of interesting Italian varieties planted. Farmed by Steph Terrizzi. When the Daou folks bought the vnyd several yrs ago, the first thing they did was pull all the interesting stuff & graft over to Cab/Merlot. Yup....that's exactly what we need. More Paso Cab/Merlot!!

I haven't tasted all that many Harringtons, but your review surprises me in that what I have had were never wines that would earn descriptors like rugged, rough and rustic.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
