So what other top French producers are swtiching to screwcap?

Bucko writes about Domaine des Baumard going into screwcap and now we have the "news" that Jean-Claude Boisset has decided to out 25 of his 50 case production of Grand Cru Chambertin 2005 in screwcap (yes 25 cases out of a total production of 50 cases!!!! - a CB wine if ever there was one).

Boisset has actually used screwcaps on Premier Cru since 2003, however.

What I want to know is what other top ranked French wines/producers are trialing or have recently made the switch to screwcaps? Laroche, of course, is the screwcap advocate.

My understanding is that many top French houses have been experimenting with screwcaps. They have yet to make the change because their experiments include aging wine under screwcap to see what gives over a long period of time.

I don't know about "top ranked," but Verget (J.-M. Guffens) is putting at least some of his less pricey stuff under screwcap. The Bourgogne "Terroir de Cote d'Or" Chardonnay I reviewed the other day had one, and I know a lot of his lower-end Verget de Sud wines from Languedoc have 'em.

Eric Texier put a lot of his wine under synthetics, but there was a lot of controversy about some of those wines not holding up well. I know I had some of his CdR's under synthetic that were really disappointing about five years after the vintage.

Michel Picard has been putting his regional/commune AOCs under screwcap for a couple of vintages now. Not the top ranked PC stuff mind you, but still, a positive step.
