- 1998 E. Guigal Hermitage - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage (5/30/2024)
From my late father’s cellar. Once again the Syrah hater bought Syrah for some unknown reason. I brought the bottle home, and after a little rest, opened it up to low expectations. Honestly I was rather impressed. Yes a little bit slick, but it also had some feral elements that pushed the gloss to the background. Meaty and dark, with good, if resolving structure, this was 100% correct Northern Rhone Syrah.

Sounds like this Hermitage is about where it should be. Glad you came around to liking it.

The issue was more my dad not me. I love Syrah. He hated it. Why he bought this I have no idea!
