WTN: Three New Friuli Whites & A Jura Red...(short/boring)

Some new wines showed up at Kokmans that I had to try:
1. Cav. Luigino Balozio Cuar Dd'OC: Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano (14.5%; Benvenusa/Sausalito) Christian Patat/SanGiovanni al Natisone 2022: Med.dark gold color; strong very fragrant/floral/gardenias/Friulano quite spicy some mineral/stony/perfumed talc slight herbal quite aromatic quite lovely nose; rather tart/tangy/spicy very floral/gardenias/Friulano/spicy lightly pungent/smokey some mineral/stony/quite perfumed talc balanced/spicy some complex very floral/perfumed flavor; very long/lingering very floral finish that follows the flavor; a beautiful complex expression of Friulano w/ loads of perfume & fragrance; one of the best Friulano I can recall. $48.00 (KK)

Cav.Luigino Balozio Cuar DOC: Friuli Colli Orientali Sauvignon (14%; Benvenusa/Sausalito) SanGiovanni al Natisone 2022: Med.gold color; very attractive ripe/SB/melony/spicy light herbal/SB some mineral/stony/perfumed talc light pencilly/oak quite fragarnt/attractive some lush/ripe bit complex nose; lightly tart ripe/melony/SB/pineapple/spicy light perfumed talc/stony/chalky light pencilly/oak almost R-loke/floral rather rich/ripe/lush bit complex some savory flavor; very long/lingering finish that mimics flavor; a really lovely classic Friuli SB almost R-like in perfume; a beautiful expression of SB. $47.50(KK)

Due del Monte Dd'OC: Collio RibollaGialla (13.5%; Benvenusa/Sausalito/CA) Due del Monte/Cormons 2020: Med.gold color; strong floral/RG/zinnias/white-pepper/bit pungent slight herbal/celery-seed spicy/dusty fairly complex nose; quite tart/tangy/slight metallic strong floral/pungent/zinnias/marigolds some white-pepper/RG slight stony/mineral/tangy bit complex flavor w/ light tannins; very long/lkingering RG/white-pepper/bit floral slight pungent finish; a pretty classic Friuli expression of RG w/ lots of perfume. $37.00 (KK)

Dom.Baud Generation 9 Ad'OC: Cotes du Jura Rouge Ancestral (13%; 70% Trousseau/30% PinotNoir; www.DomaineBaud.Fr; GrapeExpectations/Richmond) Baud Pere et Fils/LeVernois/Jura 2019: Med.color w/ slight reddish tint; fairlystrong very floral/fragrant strong Trousseau/floral/cherry/PN rather earthy/dusty bit rustic quite lovely/perfumed nose; quite tart/tangy bit metallic/steely fairly earthy/dustic/rustic strong cherry/black cherry/strawberry/Trousseau bit PN fairly light bodied/light footed flavor w/ light tangy/metallic tannins; very long somewhat earthy/dusty/rustic finish that follows flavor; a quite attractive floral/Trousseau bit earthy/rustic Jura red that is more high-toned than most; a classic bit rustic Jura red at a great price. $20.00 (KK)

1. The Luigino Balozio wines were new to me. A bit on the pricey side for Friuli but not at all overpriced given the quality. I was mightly impressed by his two wines & look forward to trying others from his tableau. I see no reason these won't age for 3-6 yrs.
The Due del Monte & the Baud were also new prodcers to me. Also quite impressed w/ their wines.
