TN: 1995 Vieux Château Landon: I bought reasonably liberally in the 95 vintage of Bordeaux.. I had the advantage of being able to taste en primeur when Bill Blatch brought samples of the clarets they represent and I agreed with the critics who predicted that this was a very good vintage and a long lived one. I laid down 10 or 12 mixed cases and am only now getting into them. I found a couple of bottles of this minor claret, and looked up tasting notes finding only a couple, both fairly negative. I pulled a cork and the wine was exactly what I would have expected - a lighter style (at a very modest price - around $20 on release). It was not over the hill, though it was fully mature now and drank quite well. I had a second bottle that I opened the next week and it was exactly the same a nice light claret still in good shape). The two reviews gave it 79 and 80 points respectively. I post this just to point out that relying on reviews by unknown people on CT or other sources can be misleading. Pull a cork and make up your own minds.
