- 2020 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Le Clos Guillot - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon (5/17/2024)
I have thought about opening one of these for a while, and tonight I finally gave in. Please do yourself a favor and do not follow my example. Don’t get me wrong - the wine is excellent, but it is so wound up that even three hours open hasn’t allowed it to open up. It still feels like it’s all potential energy, and needs a certified lock-out/tag-out technician to safely get it open. All the elements are there - dark currant, tobacco, earthy-funky tones, but they need to blossom. Give it time. Drink the more open and expressive Grezeaux if you want a youthful Baudry fix.

Wow, I guess I've been away from Baudry. Didn't remember Grezeaux as the open and expressive cuvee. In the past it was the more structured and backwards. Either way, your warnings are useful!

2017-2020 have been rather forward years for Grezeaux.
