by TomHill » Wed May 15, 2024 2:13 pm

Tried these three Falanghinas last week at our Pig+Fig tasting:
1. Arnot-Roberts Falanghina Handal-Denier Vnyd/DryCreekVlly/SonomaCnty (12.5%; 4 brls)
Arnot-Roberts/Healdsburg 2016
: Med.light gold color; slight oxidative/aged rather pencilly/oak some perfumed talc/floral/spicy bit Kansas haymow quite attractive complex rather Italianate nose; quite tart/tangy/some metallic some perfumed talc/floral rather complex some Italianate/bit oxidative flavor; very long finish that mimics flavor; quite an interesting/bit aged/Italianate white much better than expected; not a lot of fruit but rather interesting.

More geezerspout from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Falanghina is a grape variety grown mostly in Campania. It makes, to my taste, pleasant if a bit ordinary whites. It, thus far, has not made much inroads in Calif. In general, I'm not a big fan of the Arnot-Roberts whites. But I was quite impressed by both of the Falanghinas.
