WTN: Life is a Cabernet--Cult

by Jenise » Wed May 01, 2024 1:24 pm

Had 6 guests over last night. We went through four bottles of wine by the time dinner was over and the Hazelnut-dark chocolate bark from a local chocolatier came out, and we needed one more red wine. So I scampered off to the cellar and returned with a 2015 Avennia Gravura (Bordeaux blend) which I thought would be open and giving by now. It wasn't. So back to the cellar and this time I brought back a 2019 Cult from Napa Valley. I thought it would be a bit goopy-sweet over the top for my tastes (but more suited to my guests), but it actually wasn't. Not goopy at all, and it aced the challenge with silky black cherry, cassis and dark chocolate notes on subtle tannins. Absolutely perfect for the chocolate bark.

From a marketing standpoint, kinda brilliant.
