- 1995 Rosenblum Cellars Holbrook Mitchell Trio - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/28/2024)
Digging deep in my dad’s cellar, I came upon this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. I brought it home, hoping that it would still be alive, and caught it just in time. Still a bit of fruit sweetness, but mostly tertiary, it showed cedar, leather, and an old book note to be a library wine in the best sense. Excellent balance (I looked in vain for the ABV on the front or back label), with just a hint of tannin on the finish, the few people who still have a bottle would be well served to open them soon.
