WTN: Good dog, bad dog

The good dog:

2019 Mulderbosch Faithful Hound Stellenbosch Red Bordeaux Blend
About 30% each Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon with merlot, malbec and PV. Medium bodied with a lot of cabernet dust (love love love that), in prime drinking window. A screaming bargain in the under-$20 class.

The bad dog:

2019 Piedrasassi Syrah Santa Barbara County
Bretty. Sulfur instead of fruit. Tasted better than it smelled but the sulfur didn't blow off. We fought our way through a glass each then dumped the rest. A dog if there ever was one.

I loved some La Cotes I owned but not impressed with Sandhi and, certainly, not this. I'm 1 for 3.

Thanks for the Faithful Hound note. Always found it a good qpr, but haven't tried in last few vintages. This is incentive to pick up a couple, always good to have for our faithful hound's birthday party (last couple years opened older ESJ Bassetti syrahs, but running out and there will be no more (even if Steve hadn't retired)
