Dinner at Chambers always means too many tempting wines. Difficult to choose, but well worth the ‘suffering’…

2000 Château La Tour Grise Saumur Blanc Les Fontanelles
Haven’t seen La Tour Grise in years, brought back memories. Of course it has Pascaline written all over it, and even though I was skeptical it would show much of interest, my curiosity got the better of me. It was still alive and not overly evolved, perhaps because it won’t evolve into much? Simple linear Saumur orchard fruits with some crisp crunchy textural notes and lively acidity. Curiosity satisfied.

2016 Rollin Pernand-Vergelesses Les Cloux
Here we move into more straight-forward pleasure. Focused midweight white Burgundy, with good elegance for villages level. Always make a note to buy more Rollin.

2019 Antoine Arena Patrimonio Morta Maïo
Picked this because a friend loves Sangiovese and knew nothing about Corsican wine. Unfortunately we got hit with the double whammy of brett and reduction. I’m sure the elegant fruit underneath could be enjoyable. Maybe another time. Still, no complaints…
