Delmore PinotNoir DeerRidgeTrail Vnyd/SantaCruzMtns (14.5%; 2 brls; U) DarrenDelmore/PasoRobles 2022: Dark color; strong PN/black cherry/black cherry cola/licorice rather earthy/dusty/bit loamy strong toasty/smokey/Fr.oak fairly intense rugged bit rustic nose; rather tart/tangy strong PN/black cherry/black cherry cola fairly earthy/dusty bit loamy/rustic strong toasty/Fr.oak bit complex flavor w/ ample chewey tannins; very long/lingering PN/black cherry cola finish that mimics flavor; a pretty rugged expression of PN w/ not a lot of high toned fruit; a rugged mtn Pinot that needs 3-6 yrs age. $50.00

1. Darren Delmore is the National Marketing Director for TablasCreek. He's been making some wine on the side under his own label for a number of yrs. In the Paso TinCity complex that houses several other wineries. He gets his grapes mostly from further South in the SLO region. This Pinot comes from the Southern end of the SCM AVA. It's a pretty rugged expression of PN that reminds me a bit of the old MartinRay Pinots w/o the funky flaws they often showed.
I particularly like Darren's Syrahs that are distinctively cold-climate from near SLO.
