These two were brought as mystery wines to our TablasCreek tasting Thurs:
1. Shooting Star NewYorkState SabbaVnyd Dry Riesling (13.8%; www.SabbaVineyard.com) SabbaVnyd/OldChatham/NY 2018: Med.yellow color; very strong stony/chalky/mineral/very Mosel-like light floral/R/mango fairly perfumed/spicy very aromatic nose; very dry/rather austere quite mineral/stony/chalky quite tart/tangy/bit metallic slight petrol/Mosel valve oil/pungent flavor; very long/lingering very strong stony/mineral finish that follows flavor; a very dry/austere very mineral expression like a young Mosel; should age for 4-8 rs.

Hither & Yon Nero SandRoadVnyd/McLaren Vale (14.0%; www.HitherAndYon.com.Au; Epicurean Wines/Seattle) Richard & Malcom.Leask/Willunga/SouthAustrralia 2021: Very dark color; very strong blackberry/boysenberry/ripe/Shiraz strong vanilla/oak very Oz-Shiraz nose; tart rather intense Shiraz/boysenberry/blackberrysome earthy/dusty bit metallic/tangy strong vanilla/oak flavor w/ some brisk tannins; very long finish that follows the flavor; has the brisk acidity of McLarenVale; a fairly 4-square brisk expression of McLaren Shiraz; needs another 2-4 yrs yet; nothing profound but should develop some.

1. One of my taster's wife came from near OldChatham, so they picked up a btl when they were there once. It's a pretty austere/brisk expressing of NYS Riesling w/ not a lot of aromatics.
