Bedrock SauvBlanc SnomaVlly/SonomaCnty (14.0%; UboldiVnyd/Kenwood + BedrockVnyd/AguaCaliente + JudgeVnyd/BennettVlly; 70% brl frmtd in neutral F. & Austrian oak; 30% tank frmtd; some Musque clone) Sonoma 2023: Med.gold color; very strong SB/melony/ripe lightly floral/marigolds bit herbal/SB light pencilly/oak slight earthy rather fragrant nose; lightly tart ripe/melony/SB slight floral/carnations bit perfumed talcchalky/mineral slight herbal/SBquite pretty flavor; long bit tangy finish that mirrors flavor; a lovely SB w/ a purity of ripe SB character; will probably put on weight over the next few yrs. $24.00

Carlisle Zin MontafiRanch/RRV (15.4%; Tom Feeney Ranch; Plntd in 1926; + PetiteSirah/AlicanteBouschet/GrandNoir; 240 cs) 2006: Dark color w/ some bricking; strong blackberry/Zin some RRV/peppery rather dusty/oV bit cedary/pencilly/oldZin rather spicy/peppery bit alcoholic some toasty/oak fairly complex nose; bit soft some alcoholic/fumey strong very peppery/RRV Zin/spicy some cedary/pencilly/oldZin some toasty/oak some complex flavor w/ light drying tannins; very long peppery finish that mimics flavor; starting to show its age & drying out on the palate & some beyond its peak but still plenty of RRV Zin fruit & in relatively good shape.

1. I've always liked Morgan's rendition of SauvBlanc. This is yet another in those long string of successes. I particularly like his Staves of Waidhofen which are made from Franz Stockinger Austrian brls. I assume the Austrian oak here was Stockinger.
