Dipped down into my archives last night & tried:
1. OjaiVnyd Vin du Soleil Calif TW (14.5%; Grenache blend) 2000: Med. somewhat browning color; strong toasty/Ojai oak/smokey some cedary/pencilly/oldRed bit volatile some blackberry/stawberry/Rhonish some complex rather interesting Rhonish/CdP nose; soft mostly cedary/pencilly/oldRed some toasty/Ojai oak slight drying-out bit old CdP/earthy/Rhonish bit plummy/blackberry complex flavor w/ light bit astringent/drying tannins; very long toasty/oak finish that follows flavor; lost a lot of its fruit & a bit tired on the palate but some interesting Rhonish/old CdP character; clearly well into its decline but no oxidative character.

3. OjaiVnyd Syrah StolpmanVnyd/SBCnty (14.5%) 2001: Med. some browning color; strong smokey/toasty/Ojai oak some blackberry/Syrah/bit peppery/spicy lots of mature Syrah SBCnty Syrah complex nose; some soft bit tangy/metallic some blackberry/blueberry/Syrah/peppery/spicy some toasty/smokey/Ojai oak fairly smooth flavor w/ light bit tangy tannins; very long bit tart/tangy/metallic finish that mimics flavor; a lovely rather Rhonish classic mature Ojai Syrah that's lost some fruit but still hanging in there; a lovely fully mature Ojai Syrah that's not going to improve & only continue its decline.

More vlaccogrit from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The Soleil is Adam's Rhone blend. Makes bot a white & a red. Clearly a wine well into its decline. The Stolpman was the best of the lot but also a wine that's showing its age & going nowhere from here. Interesting but lost a lot of its fruit.
