Tried these two last night for DinDin:
1. Le Clos du Tue-Boeuf Vin Blanc VdF (12.73%; SauvignonBlanc/Loire Vlly; Louis/Dressner/NY) 2022: Med.gold color; lightly herbal/SB/chalky slight earthy slight SO2/funky/bit natty not very attractive nose; quite tart/tangy/bit bitey some herbal/SB/sour/bitey quite lightweight slight earthy/funky/natty bit unclean some metallic/mineral flavor; short bit herbal/natty finish that follows flavor; speaks slightly of mineral Loire SB but a bit natty & a dreadful wet dog aftertaste that wells up in the back of your throat; not undrinkable but pretty unattractive; overpriced at $24.50 (KK)

2. Matthiasson Refosco MatthiassonVnyd/NapaVlly (13.5%) MatthiassonFamilyVnyds/Napa 2014: Dark color w/ sligt bricking; strong rather intense Refosco/licorice/bit chocolaty bit smokey slight herbal pretty classic Friuli Refosco rather complex slight rustic lovely aromatic nose; fairly tart/tangy strong Refosco/licorice/plummy/boysenberry slight chocolaty slight earthy/dusty/bit rustic/pungent some wirey/tangy bit complex flavor w/ some tangy/astringent tannins; resembles some a Friuli Refosco but not quite as strong aromatics; quite a nice rendition of Refosco more Friulian than Calif; should go another 4-6 yrs I would guess.

More cillianstok from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The VinBlanc is a natural wine. It doesn't show some of the excesses of natural wine but it is definitely not an attractive white & speaks little of Loire SB. Left out overnight, it lost some of the natty funkiness but still had the wet-dog-fur aftertaste. A wine to avoid.

2. Steve Matthiasson has a great interest in the wines of Friuli, starting when he first made Ribolla Gialla from George Vare's Ribolla vnyd. In addition to Refosco, he also grows Schiopettino. Presumably, he has the Refosco dal Peduncola Rosso, rather than Terrano/Teran. Refosco is one of my favorite Friulian grapes & Steve did a very fine job with this wine....speaks strongly of Refosco.
