- 2021 Turley Zinfandel Brandlin Ranch - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/16/2024)
Sometimes a wine can be a time machine. Memories come flooding back of bottles tasted decades prior, and friends, loved ones that were there to share the experience. Brandlin Ranch was one of those sites that provided the grapes, the wines that were part of my formative years as a wine obsessive. Surprisingly the wine itself also takes me back, as despite its rather elevated alcohol (15.7%) it is not at all heavy or thick, instead bright, medium bodied, and full of macerated raspberry fruit. Luscious now, it’s balanced for long evolution, though I will likely drink up most of it all too soon.
