Had this wine at Thanksgiving dinner:
1. Donnhoff Kreuznacher Krotenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett VDP GrossLage Nahe (9%; A.P.Nr. 7753010 03 22; SkurnikWines/NY; www.Donhoff.com) Weinhaus Donnhoff/Oberhausen/Nahe 2021: Light gold color w/ lots of tiny bubbles; quite attractive R/floral/mango some Mosel valve oil bit flinty/steely slightly complex nose; lightly tart fairly sweet bit simple/near vapid quiet light/floral/R/mango slight flinty/steely flavor; med.short fairly sweet finish that mirrors flavor; a quite attractive Nahe R nose but doesn't deliver much on the palate; rather quiet & near vapid flavor; pretty pricey at $80.00/1.5 l (KK)

1. When I was shopping at Kokoman for white wines to serve at Laura's Pig+Fig Thanksgiving dinner, I spied this Magnum of R and couldn't resist this dramatic bottle. You don't see German wines in magnums very often. Maybe because of the clumsy size of the btl, hardly any of it was drunk. Nice enough nose, but just that.

100% disagree with essentially everything you wrote.

I had a bottle a month ago and loved the red soil influences and elegance. Also that price was almost 2X what it should have been.

Description sounded like a corked wine, but presumably TH would have detected TCA.

Well.... there was no signs of TCA that I picked up. It could have been at just a low level & robbed the wine of its fruit.
But it just came across as an Oakland wine.

As Herb Caen used to say about Oakland..."There's no there there ".

Could be. I know HerbCaen used the phrase a lot.
