- 2013 Enfield Wine Co. Tempranillo Shake Ridge Ranch - USA, California, Sierra Foothills, Amador County (10/22/2023)
This wine has had a strange evolution. It’s been up and down, and never quite in sync…until now. Apparently what it needed was a lot of time in bottle. There’s still a core of dark fruit, but it’s now complemented with those dusty, leathery, herbal elements that speak to Tempranillo. There’s chalky tannins that run from the mid-palate to the finish, and the whole expression is that the wine is coming into its own at ten years old, and will probably be even better at fifteen.
