Had these two reds w/ DinDin last night:
1. Donkey&Goat Carignane TestaVnyd/MendoCnty (12.6%) Berkeley 2013: Dark color w/ some bricking; strong grapey/cherry/black cherry/Carignane slight licorice bit dusty/OV faorly strong toasty/oak bit complex nose; fairly tart some Carignane/black cherry/licorice some dusty/OV bit Mendo/tomatoey slightly coarse/rustic flavor w/ modest gritty tannins; long bit rustic/coarse finish that mirrors flavor; a rather pleasant/interesting if rustic/earthy/coarse Carignane; would like a bit more high-toned fruit; speaks strongly of MendoCnty.

2. Turley Zin PringleFamilyVnyd/HowellMtn (16.1%) St.Helena 1999: Med.dark somewhat bricked color; rather earthy/cedary/pencilly/oldZin slight blackberry/HM rustic/earthy some fumey/alcoholic rather tired nose; soft slight blackberry/Zin/HM rustic/earthy somewhat metallic/tired/oldZin/cedary fairly dried-out flavor w/ light drying tannins; strong metallic/dried-out finish that mimics flavor; a bit better than I expected & speaks quietly of HowellMtn but pretty much dead & gone; this morning it had turned a quite murkey brown & totally shot.

More feekalblotz from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I didn't expect much of the D&G Carignane, but it was much better than I expected. A rather old-timey rustic MendoCnty red.
