This little Margaux is a part of my ongoing survey of my 1995 holdings. There have been reports of this wine heading over the hill, but my bottle was still in very reasonable shape - I keep a fairly cool cellar, which helps. You can look at Cellartracker and tell who has a cool cellar and who does not - the former are happy with the wine, figuring it is on plateau and the others are reporting that it is dead or dying.

This bottle, the first I've opened in several years, was in good shape. Still fairly darkk with a nose full of dark fruit and and anise hints, it was medium bodied and had medium length, a pleasure to drink. I will likely work through my remaining stash over the next 3-4 years.

I am so itching to open my 95 Chateau Margaux. You're not helping!

Had another 95 Margaux tonight - notes tomorrow.

And yes the 95s are excellent. You might want to open a 05 Margaux with wines of similar level though. I could offer up a nice Montrose or Ducru or a Lafleur Petrus ...(I have 11 or 12 cases of 95s)
