WTN: Delmore Syrah BassiVnyd '19....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:25 pm

Cracked this last night in anticipation of Darren's appearance at Pig+Fig Fri night dinner:
1. Delmore Syrah BassiVnyd/CentralCoast (13.4%; 3 brls; U; www.DarrenDelmore.com) DarrenDElmore/PasoRobles 2019: Very dark color; strong c-c/black pepper rather Rhonish/roasted/peppery/espresso strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry some toasty/smokey/oak rather complex nose; rather tart/tangy bit angular/hard strong c-c/black pepper/roasted/Rhonish strong blackberry/blueberry/Syrah some complex/Rhonish flavor w/ some hard/bitey tannins; very long/lingering complex finish that mirrors the favor; a rather hard/tight/angular very much c-c/Rhonish Syrah that needs 2-6 yrs of age yet.

More frittlecrock from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Darren Delmore is, of coutse, the National Marketing guy for Tablas Creek Vnyds. He makes a little wine on the side, mostly Syrah & Pinot Noir. All very cold-climate stuff. I'm particularly fond of his Syrahs. This Bassi Vnyd is located in the AvilaVlly a bit over a mile from the Pacific, certifiable c-c. The vnyd is owned by Mike Sinor, who makes wine under te Sinor-LaVallee label.

I work with a guy named Delmore. I should source a bottle for him.
