Ployez-Jacquemart tasting.

by Bob Parsons Alberta » Tue Sep 26, 2023 2:17 am

Great Ployez-Jacquemart tasting downtown here in Edmonton AB this evening Sept 26. House gets good mention here on this forum so will post when I get my act together!

The 2010 Blanc de Blancs was top drawer imo.Only 16 participants but it was a Monday. One lady, a CFO, easily dropped a grand!

NV Champagne Gardet Brut Rosé (Champagne, France)
Champagne - Rosé $78.99 (750mL)
2013 Champagne Gardet Millesime Extra Brut (Champagne, France)
Champagne $84.99 (750mL)
2006 Champagne Gardet Charles Prestige Millesime (Champagne, France)
Champagne $127.99 (750mL)
NV Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart Extra Quality Brut (Champagne, France)
Champagne $73.99 (750mL)
2009 Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart Extra Brut Vintage (Champagne, France)
Champagne $132.99 (750mL)
NV Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart Extra Brut Granite (Champagne, France)
Champagne $219.99 (750mL)
2004 Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart Brut Liesse d'Harbonville (Champagne, France)

I've had their NV wines and enjoyed them.

It's much too easy to drop a grand (or two...or three) on Champagne!

Two notes from earlier in the year:

  • NV Ployez-Jacquemart Champagne Extra Brut Rosé - France, Champagne (1/14/2023)
Recent purchase and recent arrival, so presume a recent disgorgement. Starts out a little quiet on the nose, but after a few minutes, and also a little warmer it shows a lot of red fruit and an interesting bass note that adds a bit of gravitas that I don’t normally find in a young NV Champagne. Solidly dry but thankfully not austere on the palate, this wasn’t quite the same solid match with our popcorn as the Extra Quality Brut, but it worked very well with the dinner omelets, especially the one with a bit of ham. Happy to have more, and would gladly buy again.
  • NV Ployez-Jacquemart Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra Quality Brut - France, Champagne (1/14/2023)
Recent purchase, but no disgorgement date on the bottle, so no way to know if it’s from 2022 or 2021, but it was a recent arrival. I’ll presume it’s therefore a pretty recent disgorgement. There is an intense floral note, as well as a whiff of fresh pine bough to go along with bright lemony fruit. Crisp and invigorating on the palate, the acidity cuts through the buttery popcorn that we had while watching an afternoon movie. Another glass later was equally appealing with our omelets for dinner.
