This modest Medoc cru bourgeois outdid itself as it often does. Earthy fruit drive nose, good structure, excellent dark fruit on palate and medium long finish. I expect that it would show less well from a different vintage but this one is long lived and perfect right now if properly cellared (my cellar is on the cool side).

Pretty great result for a merely "modest" 28 year old Medoc. Is that your "first of a case", as seems so often the case?

A 1982 LTdB was actually still chugging along a couple years ago.

Sadly not - it was in fact the last of a half case I cellared.
