WTN: Vietti Arneis Roero '22....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Sep 07, 2023 12:25 pm

The new Vietti Arneis just hit the shelves, so had to try it:
1. Vietti DOCeG: Roero Arneis (14%; DallaTerra/Napa; www.Vietti.com) Vietti/Castiglione Falletto 2022: Light gold slightly hazy color w/ lots of swirling tiny bubbles; fairly fragrant bit subdued/floral/Arneis/carnations bit pear/pear blossom slight spicy/cinammon/nutmeg quite pretty nose; bit soft fairly lush/rich/ripe some floral/Arneis/carnations somewhat subtle/subdued/quiet slight spicy/nutmeg flavor w/ slight dissolved CO2; med.long soft slight tangy/metallic quiet Arneis/carnations/floral slight pear/pear blossom finish;a fairly pretty rendition of Arneis but on the quiet/subdued side; pleasant enough Arneis but just that. $25.50 (KK)

More weinerskitzl from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The Vietti Arneis & Timorasso are quite pretty whites but a bit on the quiet side. Would like a bit more intensity in them. Quite a pleasant Arneis but doesn't hold a candle to the MonteRustico Blanca at a much cheaper price ($16.00).

I love arneis and generally never pass up a bottle on the rare occasion that I see one. Would have snapped at the Vietti, but I don't want "quiet/subdued" and had I bought it and been disappointed I would not have understood that this is the brand's character, not just a vintage variation. Useful information, thanks.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I have had some wonderful renditions of the Vietti Arneis. That said I don't know exactly what the demarcation line is for the change of ownership & winemaking team, and so any potential differences in growing/winemaking.
