...literally. Another wine that came over the fence from my neighbor. A lifelong friend of his wife's brother's days at Stanford when famous Argentinian winemaker Santiago Achaval also went there, ended up buying land in Argentina and started this winery. It closed during the pandemic.

Had a chance to buy this Santiago Achaval-made wine at clearance sale price but passed--too risky at 11 years old and highish alcohol but tasted a neighbor's bottle last night. I like old wines and enjoyed this, academically speaking, but was right to pass on this topaz yellow oldster. It has no place in my cellar. Has ample body, acidity and structure, but the fruit's in a tertiary phase and it's a huge wine. Probably containing a sizable amount of torrontes and new oak, it drinks more like a strong margarita than the kind of white wine one pairs with seafood and vegetables.
