Lovely evening with old friends at the riverfront concert, we carried silken tofu with a spicy soy dressing (basically hiyayakko with chili oil), caprese, shrimp cocktail, and watermelon
2020 Domaine du Coing “Aurore” St. Fiacre
The only St Fiacres I’ve ever had were Melon (I think just outside Muscadet zone), this however is Chardonnay. This is rather thin and dilute, a hint of grass and a hint of lemon, but mostly just wet. C+ (It’s ok, under $10)
NV Gosset Grand Rose
Pretty light pink color, apples and raspberries, caraway seed, baking bread. Lovely, and a big hit. B+/A-
2022 Bastide Blanche Bandol Rose
One of my favorites (and well priced for Bandol). Watermelon, cranberries, blood orange, citrus zest Full and zesty with long finish. No hurry. B++
Tbone marinated in shio koji then grilled, kimchi carbonara , salad
2021 Lapalu Cote de Brouilly
I’m really enjoying the 2021s. Black cherry, earth, a little mocha. With time a little smoky note. There’s a bit of tannin, but this is pretty accessible/glou glou right now. B+
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
