Recent visit to BC.

by Bob Parsons Alberta » Tue Aug 01, 2023 3:29 am

Made it as far as Princeton this year on my butterfly quest! Naturally made a brief stop in Cawston (Keremeos) and visited a new winery for me..Courcelettes. Impressive set up but really enjoyed their Cab Franc, I was told that the winery has a new wine a Riesling, but I thought way too yound at this time to make a real comment.
As usual a stop at Clos du Soleil which was recently presented at a downtown wine event. These guys are producing some great wines but I again went for the Sauv Blanc/Semillon blend which I enthused about previously.
My customary visit to Seven Stones and I picked up the newly-released Cab Franc, the 2018 was a great red,

Bob, are the BC vineyards being affected by wildfires? I'm expecting to hear some horror stories from Mediterranean basin vineyards but haven't seen any wine orientated reports so far.

Tim, even though I'm American I listen to mostly Canadian radio and my impression is that this year they haven't had the kind of fires that severely affect the wine industry, not like '20 and '21 anyway, but the season's not over. Just yesterday a fire in the south end of the Okanagan Valley caused evacuations in and around Osoyoos (near the BC/Washington border).
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Good choice, Bob. Whenever I'm in the Similkameen, I always try to stop at the Clos de Soleil, Courcelettes and Orofino triumvirate, a great trio on Upper Bench/Barcello Road. It is a special place in the whole Similkameen valley. Row 14 restaurant is another must visit.

Thanks John, have to say I do not know that restaurant. I passed on Orofino this time around there.
