- 2019 Domaine Tempier Bandol - France, Provence, Bandol (7/23/2023)
Pop and pour, and it is shockingly fruit forward. Feels like super ripe Contra Costa Mataro. Fast forward an hour, and the middle has filled out with deeply savory tones, and herbal notes. Go forward another hour, and the teeth come out. Tannins clamp down on the finish, to remind me that this is Bandol, not California. Still, it was a shocking level of fruit. My lazy young Tempier was the 2011, so perhaps I have missed some style and/or climate change effects. It eventually turned into what I was expecting, so I will let my other bottles rest and develop.
