Rice bowls with pork, sesame dandelions, gochugaru cucumbers, carrot, pickled radish
2018 Baudry Domaine Chinon
Ripeness of the vintage shows, and doubt if it were blind I’d think of CF. but I quite enjoy this. Juicy black fruits, moderate tannin, enough acid to keep lively. B/B+

Met some friends (mostly not wine drinkers) at park for concert . With breeze off the Hudson it’s warm-but-not-hot; we enjoy “Shrimp nicoise,” soba noodles with mushrooms, and beet cured gravlax.

2002 Luneau-Papin Excelsior Muscadet
Damn this is good. Like a topnotch white Burgundy with richness and cut, but with a saline/oystershell note to remind you where it’s really from. Long, limey citrus and seashell, stony heaven. Easily my WWOTY so far. A-/A

2018 Enderlle and Moll Liaison Pinot Noir.
There’s a lifted note on the nose, but just within my tolerance level. Black and red raspberries, brisk acids, hint of anise and green pepper. B

(vintage not noted) Brownstone Cabernet Sauvignon
Sweet, empty, thankfully short. C

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Impressive words. Especially coming at the end of July.. (WWOTY the second week of January doesn't carry the same weight)

Sounds great.

Had a great bottle of the '02 L d'Or last year, but then one of our two recent Muscadet-fests both '02 L d'Ors were off- one TCA, one oxidized (I think Rahsaan was there). I couldn't locate this bottle of Excelsior for that tasting, found recently when moving some boxes.

Aha. Good timing for you, bad for me!

Yes, I remember there were some off bottles..

Although there were more than enough good ones as well.
