Bedrock Compagni-PortisVnyd/SonomaVlly/SonomaCnty WW (14.2%; Dry Pharmed by PhilCoturri; Perfumed varieties: GWT/TrousseauGris/Riesling/Chard/Burger + undentified) 2018: Med.dark gold color; very strong perfumed/R/mango/pineapple rather floral/GWT/spicy light pencilly/oak rather complex lovely nose; lightly tart/tangy strong floral/GWT/R/mango/pineapple bit spicy rather old-timey/R/floral fairly spicy quite complex flavor; very long finish that mimics flavor; quite a nice/pretty somewhat old-timey expression of R/GWT.

Georgas Family Savatiano Black Label SingleVnyd PGI: Attiki (13%; Eklektikon Imprts/Wilmington/DE) Georgas Family/Spata/Attica/Greece 2021: Light gold color w/ lots of tiny bubbles/somewhat hazy/lots of thick particulatesediment; rather earthy/loamy bit pickle juice/plastic garbage can rather funky little fruit bit unclean/natty unattractive nose; lots of frizzante prickle earthy/loamy some pickle juice/sour rather funky/natty/unclean pretty sour unattractive flavor w/ dreadful wet dog fur/oxidative aftertaste; a pretty unpleasant natural w/ a dreadful aftertaste that persists for several minutes; a natural wine in all its glory.

LaPerdida O Troncado Mencia RW (12.5%; Llaurador Wines/Fairfax/CA) LaPerdida/Larouco/Spain NV: Very dark color; very earthy/loamy rather funky/bit unclean slight natty slight Mencia/grapey unattractive nose; rather tart/sour quite earthy/loamy slight Mencia/grapey rather coarse/rustic slight unclean/natty/funky unattractive flavor w/ some soft/ripe tannins;a rather coarse/rustic earthy/loamy red w/ little fruit but only slightly unclean/natty; not badly flawed but not a lot of pleasure to drink; way overpriced at $44.00 (KK)

Sindicat LaFiguera Garnatxa Dd'O: Montsant (14.5; JosePastorSlctns/Llaurador Wines/Fairfax/CA) Sindicat LaFiguera/LaFiguera/Espana 2017: Dark color; strong Grenache/strawberry rather earthy/dusty/OV rather ripe some toasty/Fr.oak bit alcoholic/fumey slight funky/rustic interesting nose; soft strong Grenache/strawberry some earthy/dusty/OV fumey fairly rich slightly rustic flavor w/ light tannins; med. rough/coarse finish that mimics flavor; a pleasant if a bit rustic Grenache but just that; no natural/natty character whatsoever, rare for a Llaurador wine. $20.50 (KK)

Clos Haut-Peyraguey AC: Sauternes 1er Cru Classe (13.5%; MeBaC; LiquidLink/PalosVerdesEstates) 2001: deep golden color; slightly volatile some peachy/botrytis/apricotty light pencilly/toasty/oak some caramel/creme brulee slight earthy rather elegant/complex lovely nose; slight volatile/alcoholic rather tart/tangy modestly sweet some botrytis/peachy/apricottyy rather creme brulee fairly complex flavor; very long/lingering modestly sweet some botrytis/apricotty very creme brulee finish; a rather restrained/elegant Sauternes w/ good acidity & not a lot of rich/lush character; a beautiful elegant Sauternes that should go another 10 yrs or more; lovely stuff.

1. Savatiano is Greece's most widely planted white grape. It seems to be sorta Greek version of Thompson Seedless, making mostly undistinguished wines. It's a key ingredient in Retsina.

2. A bunch of these were natural wines. I was looking for something foul to take to a natural wine Seminar this Fri to show how dreadful some mousey natural wines can be. This didn't turn up a good example, though.
