WTN: Castagnole Upon the Waves

by David M. Bueker » Sat Jul 15, 2023 9:18 pm

  • 2021 Crivelli Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato - Italy, Piedmont, Monferrato, Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato (7/15/2023)
There are so many things I could say about his wine, and overall it’s more than tasty, and very easy to drink way…too…much.

But there’s more to it. This was the wine that my late father drank more of than anything else, maybe everything else combined, the last five years of his life. He found it at Tastings in Charlottesville, Virginia, and was hooked. He shared a bottle with me, maybe it was the 2017…I don’t exactly remember…and I was hooked. We bonded over our shared love of wine in a way that we never had before. This Ruchè was another part of that bond, and each time we were together we had a bottle, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 vintages, and finally the 2021 shared over Christmas before he passed.

And now it’s a keepsake, a reminder of time together, and that it’s always too short. Treasure the moments, and cherish the memories.

A TN that is far, far more than just a TN. Thanks for sharing, David. Beautiful.
