WTN: Friday Night Lights

by Jenise » Sun Jul 09, 2023 1:14 pm

Friday night my revived neighborhood wine club had a 'do for "Bad Ass Reds". I felt like something lighter than whatever that might mean, so contributed a white and a rose in addition to a GSM.

2019 Impuls Cellars Rosé Columbia Valley Sangiovese Blend, Sangiovese
As it ages, this sangiovese/cab franc blend just gets better and better. The sweet fruit has given way to more savory flavors and leathery tones are coming forward. Bought a case and a half for $6/bottle way back when--what a bargain.

2019 Stolpman Roussanne Ballard Canyon
Even worse than February's bottle, which I didn't like. Butterscotch candy color and flavor (you know, those gold round pillow shaped ones in the bright gold wrapper) with tragically low acidity. Undrinkable for me, but wouldn't you know there was a guy in the crowd looking for something "a little sweet" and he loved it.

2019 Woodward Canyon Estate Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache Walla Walla Valley Red Rhone Blend
PnP'd. Dusty tannins lift this out of "the usual" for a new world GSM blend. Savory notes of meat and herbs dominate. Very good, but would have benefitted from some aeration.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Werther’s?

No reason the wine should have been like that absent heat damage. Weird.

There are five or six TN's posted on CT--all like mine. Came from the winery like this.
