This inexpensive claret was lurking below some more inspiring bottles in the cellar and was come upon by chance. Pulled one, looked it up - oops - inexpensive minor Bordeaux, 3 bb, 23 years old. And it drank like that - uninteresting bland and the other two are earmarked for the autumn stew-pot or to be opened when SWMBO hosts some girlfriends (for whom anything with a cork rather than a screw cap is exotic)..

Looked up notes in CT and who should I find there but our own Jenise, who appears to agree with my assessment and fed hers to her flower beds (how did the camellias fare, Jenise - did it hurt them?)

I thought the 00 was ok for the money in a modern way, but fully mature more than 10 years ago. I had the 05 recently (which should be even longer lived version), thought hot/jammy and not getting better. These modern satellites are probably best young at a big party with non-geeks. Thanks for note

Bill, I hope my trevails were of comfort to you. I actually get a small kick--dunno why--from finding a note from someone I know. I guess it makes the world feel like a smaller place.

And the camellias survived. They're acid-loving as are your Rhodies. You don't pour your wine in the garden?

You bet I do when appropriate - the plants are fine.

Put the other 2 bb I have out and asked S. what wine she wanted with dinner. She said that wine, until it is gone. Will post an update of the other bottles show any differently.

You have so much great wine, Bill, that there's no need to drink poor bottles. Pour them on the Rhodies!

They usually go into either winter stews or SWMBO's friends when they are over, unless they are actually bad or are used in marinades..

Second bottle report - slightly more alive than the first bottle - if I bothered with points it would be minor - 3 or 4 point improvement. Still a pretty average bottle and a disappointment as far as original hopes, but palatable. Will report on the last nottle in the near future.
