Hello All! I've been away for quite awhile. The holidays were hectic. We had a cruise and then a week in Cancun. So, I just got out of the habit of checking in.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm still very much into wine and to let you know about my two new favorites. I'm sure you are all familiar w/ them at least by name.
My favorite everyday wine is Little Penguin Merlot. I have tried soooo many wines over the last 6 months and I always go back to this one. It's inexpensive (only about $5.50) and it is good. The QPR is great! It's sooo disappointing to buy wines anywhere from $10-$15 and be continually let down. Little Penguin never lets me down.
My other new favorite is Layer Cake Shiraz 2005 from Australia! This wine rocks! It's about $16 and as the name suggests it is yummy. For whatever it's worth, Robert Parker rated it at 96 points. I hope that doesn't drive the price up, b/c it's already uncomfortably pricy for me.
The one glitch is that I am having a really hard time finding it. There is only one store that carries it in my area and since they have such poor customer service I never go there.
I have been researching on the internet on where to find it. My brother-in-law owns a liquor store and says his suppliers can't get it. What a drag!!!!! I did find it on eBay, but w/ shipping it will probably end up costing more than the store in town. And I've never bought wine through the mail and am not too sure about that.
Anyway, just wanted to say "hi." If anyone has any info on Layer Cake let me know.
