Continuing my survey of 1995 wines in the cellar, this Chianti showed quite well. Fading a bit at the edges now it shows some nice coffee and red fruit in the nose and is a smooth lengthy wine in the mouth. Finishing with soft tannin. Very good.

I may continue my 1995 spree with a Selvapiana Chianti Rùfina Riserva Bucerchiale......

Like I said yesterday, it's amazing how many wines you bought and stored 30 years ago and haven't got around to. You didn't even know you'd live this long!

I guess I have on hand about a 10 year supply right now. I had definite plans to live this long as well as long enough to enjoy the rest of the wine currently on hand. And a good thing too, as the wines I was buying then now cost over $100 a bottle!

Yeah, I figure we've got about a 10-year supply at our current rate of depletion. And, yup, some of those wines I'd never be able to afford now (Ch Margaux, Gruaud-Larose, Gonon St J, Chevillon 1ers).
