I'd had a bottle left in the cellar for the last 20 years or so and never got around to popping it. SWMBO didn't feel like wine so I looked for something she wouldn't regret missing and found this singleton.
Unlike others of this age, the cork was solid, the wine was claret-like in colour, starting to get a little pale at the edges. Good nose of sangiovese up front - black cherry and plums, and good acidity. Nice up front sweet fruit. Sometimes wines like this exceed expectations. Very pleasant and held up over an hour or so. Intend to go on an orphan hunt in the near future to segregate a few older drink-any-time wines like this.
