WTN: Enjoying the Vieux

by Jenise » Tue May 16, 2023 2:16 pm

In the last couple days we enjoyed this spectacular Sauvignon Blanc:

2021 Le Vieux Pin Sauvignon Blanc Okanagan Valley
3rd of six bottles; and each bottle has been more exciting than the last. Very Loire-ish.

2021 Navarro Vineyards Rosé of Pinot Noir Anderson Valley
This may have been an off bottle, but there was funk here that hadn't been evident in earlier bottles. Though Navarro pinks usually age well, like 4-5 years, I'm betting this vintage, which was a tad riper than usual to begin with, is done for. Drink up this summer.

Sorry, but I can't believe a Navarro pink is done less than two years from the vintage. Has to be an off bottle.

I'm surprised because its Navarro, but not surprised because this vintage was a bit softer than previous vintages have been. I'll open another soon enough--it's hot out!

No idea re BC Liquor--probably not, this is a pretty specialized brand. Not big enough production, I'm thinking, for BC Liquor. Everything Wine sometimes has some of their wines, though.

David, another bottle of the rose last night was good. You were right, the other was a duff bottle.
