Tried these two Friuli whites last night w/ Susan:
1. Borghi ad Est PinotGrigio DOC: Friuli (12.5%; www.borghiadest.com/; VineyardBrands/Birmingham/AL) 2021: Med.light gold color; quite attractive fragrant/PG/floral/carnations light stony/mineral bit complex lovely perfumed nose; lightly tart fairly rich/lush rather strong floral/PG/carnations/spicy slight stony/chalky really lovely perfumed PG flavor; very long finish that follows the flavor; no signs of skin contact; a quite lovely rich/perfumed expression of PG; great price at $17.00 (SFW&S)

Zortan Friuliano DOC: Collio (13.5%; Riberi Wines/SanFrancisco/CA) Giorgio DeGanis/Brazzano/Cormons 2020: Light gold color; pleasant floral/carnations/Friulano rather attractive/bit simple slight stony nose; bit soft slight tangy/metallic slight stony very light floral/Friulano rather quiet/simple flavor; med.short bit stony/metallic very light floral/Friulano finish; quite a pleasant Friulano nose but deliver little on the palate; rather overpriced for what it is. $21.00 (SFW&S)

1. The Borghi ad Est was a label I'd not tried nor seen before. The Vineyard Brands should have given me the confidence that it was a good wine. The estate focuses only on PG in the Collio foothills near Gorizia. Run by Robert Princic. This is one of the best Friuli PGs I can recall having.
