Opened this new wine this weekend:
1. Tenuta Garetto Fave Dd'OCeG: Nizza (14.5%; 100% Barbera; EnotecImprts/Glendale/CO) Tenuta Garetto/Gianni Gagliardo/Agliano Terme 2016: Fairly dark color; lovely fairly intense floral/lilacs rather spicy/Italian herbs/Barbera bit road tar/licorice/pungent light earthy/dusty/OV classic AltoPiemonte Barbera some complex nose; lightly tart/tangy/acidic fairly rich/lush very strong floral/lilacs/violets almost Nebb-like some pungent/road tar light toasty/oak very spicy/Italian herbs/Barbera some dusty/OV some complex flavor w/ ample ripe tannins; very long/lingering some tart/tangy very rich/lush very strong floral/violets/rose petal/Nebb-like fairly strong Barbera/spicy Italian herbs rather dusty/OV some pungent/road tar bit mushroomy/truffle fairly complex finish w/ some ripe/chewey tannins; plenty of structure and can se several more yrs; lots of floral aromatics that remind of Nebbiolo; rather rich/lush w/ a firm acidity that doesn't take your head off; a terrific Piemonte Barbera at a great price. $24.00 (LCSWS)

More gorpafittle from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I stumbled upon this wine at the newly resurgent LaCasaSena Wine Shop which now has a new manager, Ben, who is making remarkable improvements to a shop that has been pretty stale for a number of yrs.
Nizza was once a subzone of Barbera d'Asti which became a DOCG in 2014. This is the first wine from that DOC I've seen. I was fairly impressed by this Barbera. Barbera d'Asti tends to have a rather lean/high-toned character. The richness of this Barbera suggested more a Barbera d'Alba than Asti.
