We tried these two from the archives at Pig+Fig last night:
1. Carlisle Zin TomFeenyRanch/RRV (16.0%; 150 cs) SantaRosa 2000: Dark some murky/brown color; quite alcoholic/fumey rather overripe/boysenberry some raisened/pruney strong toasty/oak not very complex nose; soft quite hot/alcoholic/fumey rather raisened/pruney/late hrvsty very overripe flavor w/ light drying tannins; very long finish mimics the flavor; not on its last legs, but not going anywhere.

Carlisle Zin TomFeenyRanch/RRV (16.6%; 350 cs) SantaRosa 2001: Dark some murkey/brown color; bit more boysenberry/fruit rathe alcoholic/fumey strong toasty/Fr.oak quite raisened/pruney more cedary/pencilly/oldRed more complex nose; much the same as the '00 but in slightly better condition w/ more fruit.

1. Both of these show a high degree of hot/alcoholic/fumey character w/ lots of overripe/raisened/pruney fruit. Not at all dead or unpleasant but have not developed into very interesting wines.
Back in those days, Mike was pushing the ripeness of the fruit he harvested. Both were quite good wines in their youth. But time has not been kind to these wines. His wines are much more balanced nowadays & develop a lot better.
