Domaine des Tours Question

by Jenise » Sun Apr 09, 2023 3:07 pm

So we drank a 2015 Domaine des Tours Vin de Pays de Vaucluse Red Rhone Wine Reserve last night. The word 'Reserve' is on the triangular Rayas neck label with the vintage, everything else appears on the big label. When I go to CT to find the wine, I find 993 bottles attributed to 2015 Domaine des Tours Vaucluse Red Rhone Wine, and only four to a Reserve. Most of the Reserves listed on CT are merlot (front label) or merlot-syrah (what some people think, though I don't know why.) Leafing theough the pictures of other people's bottles and descriptions I can't seem to find an exact match, and it may be that people who had this Vaucluse missed the word 'Reserve', but people who buy this category of wine aren't usually that sloppy. They're not beginners.

I'm going blind trying to figure it out. CT users, help!

Not sure why your wine isn’t on CT, unless it’s been a victim of inaccurate listing consolidation. WineSearcher shows the Reserve (no mention of Merlot-Syrah) at numerous shops, including SommPicks. There are no listings with Merlot-Syrah, which would make me think that they have dropped the Merlot-Syrah from the label.

Maybe it's not even merlot-syrah. One listing for it somewhere called it a grenache-cinsault blend which, frankly, it tasted more like.
