Storage Fridge

Anyone have any knowledge of the Franklin FWC20T 20 Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler Fridge?

http://www.beveragefactory.com/refriger ... c20t.shtml

I'm considering purchasing, I've found it online for $250, but these things run the gamut as far as price and I'm wondering if it's one of those "you get what you pay for" situations.

May we persuade you to buy a bigger one? 20 bottles will fill up too fast. For a "budget" option, try Whirlpool's wine fridge. It holds about 100 bottles (which BTW is also too small ;) ) and mine has been running perfectly for now two years. It cost about 800€ which was cheap when I compared it to others of similar size.

I agree with Otto. No matter what size you think you need, always buy a bigger one. It's amazing how fast the things fill up.

K, I bought a small built-in unit that holds 60 bottles for around $400. IOW, just on a cost-per-bottle basis, the unit you're looking at is too expensive. And I would think you'd want something at least counter height--which all by itself is going to put you in the 60-100 bottle capacity range.

Where are you shopping? Places like Home Depot always have a few low-cost units around.

K, I bought a Danby 75 from that same website (Beverage Factory). They carried it up 3 flights of stairs and set it all up as well. I've got about 125 bottles carefully arranged into it even though the published size is 75 bottles so the per bottle cost is quite good. The 65 bottle unit for $425 also looks good.

I recently consolidated my wines. My wife said there were too many on the floor in the living room. She was getting tired of having to move them when she vacuumed.

After the consolidation, I have 106 bottles in the big refrigerator in the garage, and 47 in the smaller one in the dining area. There is an additional 30-36 bottles in the coat closet.

The current plan is to cut back on buying the more inexpensive wines, and buy more long-term agers as we reduce our inventory.

All of that to say I agree with the others. 20 bottles is simply not enough. Not even close!
