This was the 3rd vintage of this Cape wine made from the 5 principal Bordeaux varietals.

There have been tasting notes indicating that this has declined but that is not my impression. It was garnet in colour with some bricking at the edges and had a nose of typical French claret with elements of cedar (sometimes described as cigar box) and red sweet fruit. Well made, stil in good shape and would be a good candidate for a blind tasting - clearly not an American wine yet not quite classic claret either. Guesses might range from South America to Italy but might well miss out South Africa. I opened one of these some years ago and my notes indicated that at the time it seemed much more new world than it does today.
