2012 Enfield Wine Co. Syrah Haynes Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Coombsville (2/18/2023)
I thought this wine was totally ready to go a few years ago. Turns out it still needs time. Lots of dark fruit, as well as wild bramble, smoke, meat, and a touch of feral. It’s completely Syrah. The tannins have largely backed off, but there’s still plenty of acid backbone to keep it together. I have several more bottles…somewhere.,,when I find them during an archeological dig I will drink them, whether that’s tomorrow, a year from now, or ten years from now. The wine will be fine no matter when.
