2004 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut Champagne Blend
My Superbowl wine. Great pop at uncorking, but minimal energy and persistence in the contents. Flavor kind of simple: red apple skin and watermelon candy. Good, but lacking essential Krug-ness or the complexity of the bottle opened two years ago.

Opened these others Friday and Saturday night:

2018 Rasa Vineyards Chardonnay Dream Deferred Frenchman Hills Vineyard Royal Slope
Wow has this perked up since our last bottle. Brilliant Puligny Montracher-like minerality and acidity true to its rare (in WA) limestone soils, and though it drank well I think it's best years are yet to come. We'll save our last bottle for 2025.

2011 Force Majeure Cabernet Sauvignon Collaboration Series V Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain Another brilliant wine from a tough vintage. Terrific nose; leather, black cherry and cigar box. Deep flavors followed on the palate with perhaps bit of blackberry as well, but blind in a group there would have been divided opinions about whether it was from California or Washington. Perfect bottle for a BYOB: it's immediately ready and contains very little sediment. Excellent.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
