Tuesday roast salmon with spaghetti in a lemon/almond sauce, broccoli
2013 Fevre Les Clos Chablis GC (375 ml)
Open, rich pear with lemon peel, chalky minerality, long. A-

Wednesday cumin pork chops and Brussels sprouts, roast potatoes salad
2005 de Villaine "La Digoine” Bourgogne Cote Chalonnaise
What a pretty wine. Delicate, with fresh berries, floral notes, and some light smoked meat notes. Not super long, but really a treat considering where it hails from. B+

Thursday duck breast in a honey/mustard/olive sauce, pasta, and salad
2006 Arcadian “Dierberg” Pinot Noir (Santa Maria)
I think of Arcadian as restrained for CA, but this comes across as very ripe and a little hot (says 13.8%, would have guessed more). Kirsch, ripe plum, a touch of cow patty. Holding on but this is a bit disappointing. B-/C+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Lots of folks talk about how ageable Arcadian Pinots are, but I have not had good luck. The Syrahs on the other hand...

I've had nothing but good experiences with aging Arcadians, and mostly vintages 01 - 06, pinot and syrah both. But no Dierbergs. Kirsch-y flavors are not typical.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I don't have any clear sense of the Central Coast AVAs (I know Arcadian has wines from Sta Rita Hills, Santa Maria, Santa Lucia, Santa Ynez, etc) nor of vintages.

They areas can have fantastic vintages when no one else does--the '93 pinots were incredible--and fly under the radar because those who make decisions by vintage charts, especially from the other side of the country, don't know not to always judge central California by what happens in Napa/Sonoma. But many of the generalizations do apply. '03, '05, '07 and '09 were extremely hot, etc. '06 was cooler, and some of the '06 Arcadians were among my favorites. Your wine strangely doesn't fit the norm for either vintage or producer.

I was just wondering if Santa Maria was warmer than Santa Lucia where most of my previous Arcadian PNs (Francescas) were from
